A Licensed Small-Scale Childcare Facility in Ota City
Shiodome Nursery School
(Keikyu Kamata Ekimae)
Valuing the Milestone of Every Single Day
Located just a one-minute walk from Keikyu Kamata Station, this small-group nursery specializes in the development of 1- and 2-year-olds. Conveniently located near the station for commuting, it supports the balance of work and child-rearing.
It is said that the most important period for a child’s human development is between the ages of one and two.
As the first small-scale licensed nursery school opened in Tokyo’s 23 wards in 2014, our center specializes in nurturing the development of infants.
Rather than simply following the general approach to infant care found in most licensed nursery schools, we focus on providing age-appropriate learning and experiences during this crucial stage, helping each child build a strong foundation for personal growth and character development.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
■Enrollment & Tours
Q. Can I tour the facility?
A. es, we welcome tours at any time! They are generally held on weekdays at 10:00 AM or 3:30 PM by appointment. If you would like to request a different time slot, please contact us by phone.
Q. I am concerned that an urban nursery school might not have its own playground.
A. As an urban facility, we focus on the quality of indoor activities and design our programs to make the best use of the surrounding environment. We provide age-appropriate environments within our space so that children can engage deeply and take the lead in their own play.
Q. How do I apply for enrollment?
A. Applications for enrollment (including mid-year entry) must be submitted to the Ota City Child and Family Department (Childcare Service Division).
■Drop-off & Pick-up
Q. When will the school contact me for an early pick-up due to illness?
A. We will contact you if your child seems different than usual—such as having diarrhea, vomiting, or appearing unusually lethargic—regardless of whether they have a fever. If a fever reaches 37.5°C (99.5°F), we ask for an early pick-up as soon as possible. (Children may return to the nursery 24 hours after their fever has subsided.)
Q. Can a grandparent or friend pick up my child?
A. Upon enrollment, we issue a "Pick-up Authorization Card." We ask that whoever is picking up the child carries this card. If they do not have the card, we will verify their identity using a photo ID, provided the parents have notified us in advance.
■Meals & Nutrition
Q. What kind of meals are provided?
A. Our nutritionist creates menus that focus on nutritional balance and ease of eating for young children. Once a year (usually in October or November), we have a "Bento Day" for our walking excursion.
Q. Do you accommodate food allergies?
A. es. Based on the Ota City "Lifestyle Management Guidance Form," we provide substitute or elimination meals. We coordinate our meals and activities based on a doctor’s medical certificate. Please consult with us if your child has any allergies.
■Daily Life
Q. How is bedding handled?
A. We lend out nursery futons. We ask families to provide a waterproof sheet and a blanket/top cover. Please take these home on the weekend for laundering and bring them back at the start of the week. Our staff handles the changing of the sheets.
Q. Do the children go for walks?
A. On sunny days, we try to go for walks around the neighborhood as much as possible. We frequently visit Nankon Park.
■Parent Relations
Q. How can I see what my child is doing at the nursery?
A. We use the "Kodomon" ICT app to share updates between the nursery and home. Monthly newsletters and announcements are also distributed via the app. For any specific concerns, we are happy to provide individual support.
Q. Are there many events that require parent participation?
A. We keep such events to a minimum. Our management considers the family's daily rhythm and aims to reduce the burden on parents.
■Risk Management & Security
Q. How do you handle security given the station-front location?
A. We strictly manage visitor identification and door locking. Our staff maintains constant "multiple-eye" supervision. By sharing information among staff, we ensure that any "unusual activity" is noticed and addressed immediately.
Q. Is there a risk of a child going missing?
A. During outdoor activities or transitions, multiple staff members are always present. We follow a strict three-step head-count procedure: before departure, during transit, and upon arrival. We also conduct regular counts during activities and ensure all staff follow standardized safety protocols.
Q. What is your general risk management system?
We have a system of daily inspections, drills, and training to prevent accidents and disasters. We identify risk factors through regular checks, analyze "near-miss" reports among all staff, and implement measures to prevent recurrence.
Q. How do you handle emergency communication during a disaster?
A. Emergency contact lists are kept in an easily accessible location. We conduct regular drills so staff can act quickly and calmly, with clearly defined roles for each member during an emergency.
Q. How do you respond to injuries or accidents?
A. We respond quickly and systematically based on our safety manual. Staff on-site provide first aid and determine if emergency services are required. For serious incidents, we coordinate with our headquarters and provide a thorough explanation to parents.
